Founded in 1979 as AFF (American Family Foundation), ICSA took on its current name in late 2004 to better reflect the organization's focus and increasingly international and scholarly dimensions.

ABSTRACT The suicide terrorist attacks reveal the extremism of some groups. These acts are the iceberg peak of a wider reality, which is the fundamentalist movement. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the ideology, as well as, the economic, political and social variables to understand the whole phenomenon. So, the idea of this issue is, firstly, to study the global phenomenon of fundamentalism and, secondly, the genesis and dynamics of the suicide terrorist groups. In this first part we briefly analyze the ideological base, (the Islam), the emergence of the Islamic fundamentalism, the participant mobilization, the organizer structure, the mass media influence, the economic resources and the results. In the second part, we apply to the these terrorist groups the Gamson theory of the Collective Action Framework and the Smelser theory. And finally will explain the genesis of the sectarian suicide terrorist identity. INTRODUCCIÓN Este trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar desde una perspectiva psicosocial los movimientos fundamentalistas islámicos, partiendo de un análisis más global de los aspectos que influencian estos grupos, hasta su extremo, los hombres-bomba. Para ello utilizaremos dos grupos distintos de fundamentalistas, los cuales reflejan hasta donde llegan las acciones colectivas que toman cuerpo de movimiento social. Es importante resaltar que son muchos los movimientos fundamentalistas islámicos que están esparcidos por todo el mundo y que son diferentes en muchos aspectos, lo que no impide la identificación de puntos comunes para poder entender el desarrollo de estos movimientos, sin embargo no podemos generalizar aspectos que son particulares a cada uno. Un primer análisis tendrá un matiz más racional y objetivo en una dinámica de identificación e interpretación de los momentos del proceso de desarrollo de los movimientos fundamentalistas islamistas que usan el extremismo como estrategia para alcanzar sus objetivos. Además estos grupos son los que, en la actualidad, ejercen mucha influencia en otros grupos que son los que están actuando en ese momento. En este sentido, para profundizar en el análisis, nos basaremos en la Psicología del Fanatismo, pudiendo así comprender la dinámica de estos grupos, y se intentará construir un modelo explicativo del terrorista suicida (“shaheed”). Además trataremos de la formación de la identidad sectaria de los miembros de los grupos que operan con terrorismo suicida.
