Founded in 1979 as AFF (American Family Foundation), ICSA took on its current name in late 2004 to better reflect the organization's focus and increasingly international and scholarly dimensions.

This psycho educational material will include such things as missing aspects of childhood, which may be experienced as loss, and the stages of loss. Please note that if you were born/raised in a cult and choose to attend this session, although there will be ample opportunity for people to talk about their own experiences, there is also no pressure to take part in the discussions. This session is for those born/raised in cults/sects only, i.e., those spending all or part of their childhood in a cult, including cult schools (those joining a cult on or under the age of 15). This session will have no observers. Born or Raised Mini-Workshop 2: Parenting styles Lois Kendall; Ron Burks, Ph.D. This session will include a presentation of psycho educational material that will serve as a spring board for discussion. This psycho educational material will cover different styles of parenting, which will include looking at the type of (or lack of) parenting we received. Please note that if you were born/raised in a cult and choose to attend this session, although there will be ample opportunity for people to talk about their own experiences, there is also no pressure to take part in the discussions. This session is for those born/raised in cults/sects only, i.e., those spending all or part of their childhood in a cult, including cult schools (those joining a cult on or under the age of 15). This session will have no observers. Born or Raised Mini-Workshop 3: Socialisation Lois Kendall; Linda Dubrow-Marshall, Ph.D. This session will include a presentation of psycho educational material that will serve as a spring board for discussion. The psycho educational material will look at things such as little or no media input in childhood and the experience of moving across cultures. Please note that if you were born/raised in a cult and choose to attend this session, although there will be ample opportunity for people to talk about their own experiences, there is also no pressure to take part in the discussions. This session is for those born/raised in cults/sects only, i.e., those spending all or part of their childhood in a cult, including cult schools (those joining a cult on or under the age of 15). This session will have no observers.
