Recreational activities suggested to us are listed below.  Please let us know if you would like us to try to connect you with others who might be interested in a particular activity. There will also be events in the evening at the hotel, including videos and special discussions.

Red Rocks Amphitheater.  June is an excellent time for some evening touring as we can expect daylight until close to 8:30 PM. This is for the heart healthy and energetic. The climb up the stairs to the Amphitheater is challenging.

A walking tour of downtown Denver (there is a CD available to have a self guided tour). If there were sufficient interest we could charter a bus and provide a guided tour. However, in checking with a few guided tour services, 30 people seems to be the minimum as well as for unguided tours. 

There are buses that travel from Lakewood, to Black Hawk and Central City for gambling and touring historical mining towns.  The prices vary from free, if there is sufficient interest, to $16.00 to $20.00 for a round trip. Black Hawk is 25 miles from Lakewood and Central City 35 miles.  The roads to the casinos are in the mountains and travel on the buses is usually much preferred.

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts: During the conference performances include "Dame Edna" and the plays, "Jesus Hates Me," which is a thought provoking-dark comedy, and "Gem of the Ocean," about Afro-American Life in the 20th Century.

Heritage Square Music Hall, located 5 miles away,  features a Victorian Dinner Theater, shops, and some amusement rides, (An Alpine Slide, etc.)

Shopping:  Colorado Mills 3 miles away features a few factory outlets.  The world's largest outlet center is in Castle Rock, Colorado - 45 minutes away.  These can be accessed through charter service or regional transportation district buses.

There are also a couple of Jazz Clubs in downtown Denver one of which is the Sambucca which has some of the best ambiance for a musical evening.
